The ten-man Lupad team of reelections City Mayor Felipe Remollo is running in the May 9 election on the issue of performance which the Team believes and defends, has never been matched by any city administration in the history of Dumaguete as capital city of Negros Oriental.

In  less than 6 years, Dumaguete has transformed itself  into a vibrant and thriving city that is attractive to more investments which are  certain to generate jobs through  massive innovative initiatives, programs and projects of the city administration under Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo, who is seeking reelection for his third term.

The Lupad team is composed of: Maesa Isabel Sagarbarria for vice mayor; COUNCILORS:  Dionnie Amors, Manuel ARbon, Mike Bandal, S.Dicen, GG Esmena, Rey Lawas, Edgar Lentorio Jr,  Maelyne Mariano  ;Nelson Patrimonio and Karissa Tolentino-Maxino.

Under his leadership and supportive majority  members of the City Council, Mayor Remollo has embarked on several multi million peso infrastructure projects, programs and initiatives to stimulate the local economy, provide more facilities for public use and  made the city more resilient to the ill effects  of climate change, among them are:

Roads, bridges and shoreline protection:

Among the major infrastructure projects facilitated and implemented by the City  administration include the opening of roads networks; ongoing completion of the Metro-Dumaguete Diversion Road; Construction of 2 full-span concrete bridges estimated to cost P50-Million each (generated purely  by local tax revenues) linking Taclobo-Bagacay and Batinguel-Bagacay.

This has  virtually reduced traffic in the downtown area, ensure safety of motorists and residents along the Banica River, especially during inclement weather and floods. The shoreline protection project has now extended to Poblacion 1.

This will keep  the residents of the coastal community safe from storm surges and big waves while providing additional space for parking, rest and recreation like the now popular Pantawan 2 People’s Park.

Alert Level 1, highest vaccination COVID-19 rate in Region 7:

Dumaguete City is the only LGU that was re-classified under Alert Level 1 by the National IATF-MEID due to the declining number of COVID-19 active cases (2 as of March 31, 2022) and high vaccination rate of 129% of the target population (posting the highest vaccination rate in Central Visayas) or 139, 248 of its residents and workers.

As is the trend over the years, the number of crime incidents reported in the year 2021 declined by 27.30% compared to the year 2020. The  local police and the City Government of Dumaguete intensified the campaign against all forms of criminality through proactive measures and superior strategies.

A major part of the success in the fight against crimes was the installation of about 350 CCTVs in strategic locations of the city in 2019 with plans to acquire additional units to be mounted in the interior areas of the barangays.

Closed the dumpsite, best solid waste management:

No less than the top officials of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources namely EMB-DENR Central Office Director Engr. William P. Cuñado and Engr. Paquito D. Melicor Jr. Regional Executive Director of DENR Region 7 publicly commended  Mayor Remollo for his decisive closure of the dumpsite last year and tlast week’s  inauguration of the Central Materials Recovery Facility inside the Eco-Park which houses the pyrolysis machine and plastic recycling equipment.

These  P21-Million  pieces of equipment converts solid wastes into useful byproducts like hollow blocks, pavers, plastic chairs, organic fertilizer, etc. The DENR recognized that the Dumaguete MRF is the first in the Philippines to generate income for the LGU atP P500,000 per month, while providing a livelihood for the waste pickers through proper and sustainable solid waste management.
